[En] Regionalliga: VfR Wormatia Worms – SV Elversberg

32nd match day of Regionalliga Southwest
VfR Wormatia Worms - SV Elversberg
Wormatia-Stadion
Result: 0:0 (0:0)
Attendance: 993 (about 100 guests)

So, we went away for a short time and now the season is going to be over soon. It felt funny to know that it was already the 32nd match day.

The weather has become much better since we were back. The clock is tuned to summer time again and the sun stays out longer again, which meant it was already possible to wear only a T-shirt to go to stadiums.

Our destination of the day was Worms, somewhere near Heidelberg. We started our day with a nice breakfast, and then meet up with other fans at the bus stop short before 11am. The bus was full and everyone was in a good mood. After two hours of drive, we already arrived in Worms.

Surprisingly, Wormatia decided to open their away block for the first time for Elversberg since 2013, otherwise we would have to enter the stadium from the main entrance. Well, last season Wormatia had to get a new turf so they had to play in Pfeddersheim instead. We guess they opened the guest block for us because they knew we were going to arrive with a full bus.

We would say Elversberg arrived with about 100 people who filled most part of the little away block. The view of the block was a quite crappy though as it was at behind the track field behind the goal.

But still, we got a nice view of the main stand which looked actually quite nice. The home’s fan group Sups Worms gathered at the main stand with many other home fans, hanging their flags and waving their banners. They also create a great atmosphere too in the beginning of the game!

The Elversberg fans also decorated their block with the banners they brought from home. All fans received a match programme for free when they entered the stadium, which later were all torn into pieces. “Confetti sponsored by Wormatia,” someone said.

They also brought a banner to remember a friend of them who passed away couple of days ago, “RIP Winnie” was raised when the players entered the pitch. Winnie was a life long Saarbrücken supporter, but he was also good friends with some of the Elversbergers.

After a few minutes, the banner was collected and the fans started to chant for their team. Nothing much happened in the first half, but the performance was not too bad. The crowd became noisy during half time as the draw for the promotion play-off took place. The two teams from Regionalliga Southwest will play against either the champions of Regionalliga North or Bayern. People then started saying that was a good draw and would be happy to face any of the two teams.

Back to the game in second half, Worms actually had more chances than the away team, but they never managed to send the ball into the goal. The game ended goalless so both teams got one point. Same for Mannheim and Steinbach, who were competing with Elversberg for the play-off spot.

As we started to pack to go home, the guy from the food stall came and yelled that all food and drinks was on clearance sale for 1.50€! Everyone lined up to get some drinks and food to go, and we got a Frikadelle too (it was so oily though).
